Ash Landfill Site Inspector:

· Two landfills are still open and operating, the others are closed, but have a 30-year post closure monitoring period.

· This position will oversee and ensure our contracted entities are completing compliance obligations related to maintenance, monitoring, inspections, surveying, and other engineering support.

· Additionally, this position will be expected to develop and maintain records, and support report development.

· At active landfills, oversight of closure work and new cell construction may be required, and reporting progress to the Landfill Program Manager.

· The candidate will also assist in quality assurance by auditing the activities of our 3rd party Engineer as they complete inspections, surveying, sampling, testing, etc. and reporting in a format acceptable to the agency having jurisdiction.


Skills:

· A fundamental and working knowledge of the State of Michigan Part 115 landfill regulations as well as general landfill operation, construction, and maintenance is required; and a general understanding of the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) CCR rules (2015 & 2024) is preferred.

· Candidate must be able to read and interpret civil and environmental drawings and related construction documents.

· Strong oral and written communication skills are required.

· Candidate must be able to prioritize and deal with multiple activities on a daily basis.


Education:

· High School diploma required, an associate degree in a Technical/Construction field is a plus. Prefer 3 - 5 years’ relevant experience in a similar role.
